If you have not compared recently, you may not know whether a lower-priced auto insurance option or additional discounts are available for your situation.

Most drivers know exactly what their current insurer charges. What they usually do not know is what another insurer might charge for a similar coverage need.

That difference matters because insurers do not all calculate premiums the same way. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners explains that each insurer uses its own rating factors, which means quoted premiums can differ from company to company.

One premium does not tell you what the rest of the market may quote. For your state drivers, the only practical way to find out whether another price may be available is to compare.

Where A Lower Price Can Come From

A lower quote does not require a special rule or secret program. Another insurer may simply price your situation differently. On top of that, multi-car, home + auto, pay-in-full and safe-driving discounts may be available depending on the provider and your eligibility.

So if you are still paying the same policy without a fresh comparison, you could be missing an option that comes in lower or uses a different discount combination.

You Have Three Ways To Handle It

1
Keep the current policy without checking. You keep the familiar option, but you still do not know whether another price may be lower.
2
Shop insurers separately. You can contact providers one by one and repeat the quote process with each.
3
Start with one comparison check. Answer a few questions and continue to see what insurance options may be available.

Being satisfied with your current insurer does not tell you whether a lower-priced option exists. Comparing simply gives you another number to put beside the one you already have.

Your State drivers: see if your next rate could be lower. Start with two quick questions. Rates, discounts and eligibility vary.
Question 1 of 2

How many vehicles are in your household?

This may affect which discount options are worth checking.

Multi-car discounts may be available. Eligibility varies.
